It was hot here this week! What the heck happened? Oh wait, I live in Texas. The most fickle-climate place ever. The weather teased us with lows in the 30’s and 40’s for three days. Now we are back to highs in the mid 80’s and lows in the 70’s. Fall weather, where did you go?! I need to accept the fact that Houston is sub-tropical, and cold weather doesn’t stick around.Even though it was a little toasty, I hosted a fabulous happy hour for my lady friends this week (post on that coming soon!). One of the appetizers I served was a plate of Herbed Goat Cheese Stuffed Peppadew Goldew Peppers. Boy that’s a mouthful. Goldew peppers are my new favorite thing.

Peppadews vs. Piquanté Peppers vs. Goldew Peppers

I feel like there is some confusion about Peppadew peppers, South African piquanté peppers, and Goldew peppers.

Magical piquanté peppers come from South Africa. They are round, red beauties of a little spicy, a little sweet, and so tasty.
Peppadew is the brand that sells the piquanté peppers.
Peppadew also sells other varieties of jarred peppers, including the super mild, and lightly sweet Goldew peppers I used in my recipe.

The ingredient “Peppadew peppers” is often used in place of piquanté peppers, and can be confusing.

So Peppadew is the brand. Piquanté peppers are the amazing little red peppers from South Africa. Goldew peppers are the mild golden pepper made by Peppadew, and used in this recipe.

I think that’s enough of a pepper lesson for the day. Let’s get down to making these bad boys so you can inhale them like I did. There was not a single one left at the end of my happy hour. Your guests will scoop these up, so make sure you stash a couple in the fridge for later.

Also, keep an eye out for more recipes using these in the near future! You can snag a jar off Amazon by clicking here, or check out the Peppadew website for more info.

A combination of goat cheese, cream cheese and herbs pairs perfectly with these mildly sweet Goldew peppers.

Course Appetizer, Canapé, Side Dish
Cuisine American, South African
Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 16 peppers
Calories 35 kcal

Ingredients

  • 1 jar whole Peppadew Goldew peppers
  • 4 oz goat cheese
  • 2 oz whipped cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp flat leaf parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chives finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Drain the Goldew peppers and lay out upside down on a paper towel to dry.

  2. In a small bowl, mix the goat cheese, cream cheese and herbs with a fork. Next, push the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star tip, or your tip of choice. Just make sure the tip is large enough to allow the herbs to pass through.

  3. Then pipe the mixture into each pepper. Serve immediately, or store in the fridge loosely covered with saran until ready to serve.

Note, when I made these, I did not fill the entire inside with cheese mixture. I piped it from the bottom of the pepper to the top, but did not fill  in all of the sides. I did not want to overwhelm the pepper flavor with the cheese.
